Stichting Strijdmuziek Year 2000: "Music and Peace" was a programme of the UN amining
to initiate, support and promote musical actions and projects linked
with peace and bringing people together. OFER GOLANY Musicians without
Borders Blues for Peace was established in Israel to honor the roots of blues
music and promote peace and the understanding that ALL peoples have
had their share of the blues. The Children's Music Network (CMN) is a nonprofit association with
members across the United States and Canada. They publish a nice Peace
Resources webpagina, with a lot of songs and links.
In het Legermuseum in Delft was van 28 september 2001 tot en met 1
april 2002 de tentoonstelling Muziek, Oorlog + Vrede te zien. In een
audiovisuele experience trekken zeven oorlogen met bijbehorende muziek-
en beeldfragmenten aan de bezoeker voorbij.
Popband 'Make
me smile' speelt voor VluchtelingenWerk Nederland:
Een muzikaal pardon voor alle vluchtelingen die slachtoffer zijn van
de verharding van het vluchtelingenbeleid in Nederland. Zo
omschrijven de muzikanten van de Texelse formatie `Make me smile' hun
single `ik word zo ziek van politiek'. Hun Nederlandstalige
protestsong is een muzikale reactie op de politieke ontwikkelingen. 'Muziek voor de Vrede', een samenwerking van Utrechtse muzikanten en
kunstenaars, organiseerde in juni 2003 een festival om steun te betuigen
aan de jeugd in Irak. Muziek optredens speelde hierin een belangrijke
rol. De Raad van Kerken in Nederland heeft zijn lidkerken gevraagd gemeenten
en parochies op te roepen vlak voor of bij het begin van de oorlog tegen
Irak kerkgebouwen open te stellen voor ieder die behoefte heeft aan
stilte, bezinning, gebed en gemeenschap. Tijdens de wakes was er veel
ruimte voor muziek. De stem van Marokkaanse Democraten – Nederland heeft op zaterdag
5 april 2003 een concert Voor Vrede en Maatschappelijke solidariteit
in Den Haag georganiseerd. One World Beat Global Music Festival is live 3-day global music festival providing a platform for musicians of all genres to unite and convey a message of hope through their music, all to benefit the victims of AIDS. Unlike traditional festivals that happen in one place, One World Beat Music Festival is a network of concerts taking place around the globe over a three-day period. The next one will take place on March 19-21 2004.

ZEGG (Center For Experimental Culture Design) is an intentional community of 80 people located near Berlin. ZEGG's goal is to integrate personal development, new social structures, political commitment and action so that a vision for a more humane world can grow. They organise the come-together-songs. Situated in Valchiusella Valley, in the Alpine foothills of northern Italy, Damanhur is a Federation of Communities and Regions with over 800 citizens. Damanhurian Music creates an evocative atmosphere able to transmit emotions and knowledge to whomever listen to it. The forum for friends of Peoples close to Nature (f P c N) is a global movement of individuals and groups dedicated to the survival of triBal peoples, in particular hunter-gatherers.
